Becker College was recently rated #1 in New England and #2 in the country among four-year private institutions for awarding undergraduate animal studies degrees. Nationally, Becker is the third-largest producer of undergraduate veterinary technology degrees among four-year private institutions and is one of only two private colleges in New England to offer AVMA-accredited undergraduate programs in veterinary technology.
Becker College is one of only a few programs nationwide that operates a full service veterinary clinic on campus (Lenfest Animal Health Center), providing students’ opportunities for hands on learning under the supervision of certified veterinary technicians and veterinarians. Becker College offers a four-year bachelor of science in the School of Animal Studies and Natural Sciences in the following disciplines: Veterinary Technology, Pre-Veterinary Science, Equine Studies, Biology and Laboratory Animal Science. Becker College also offers associate of science degree degrees in animal care and veterinary technology.
Becker College is located on two campuses, one in Worcester, and one in Leicester, MA. Animal Studies classrooms, laboratories, and the veterinary clinic are located on the Leicester campus. Becker’s equestrian center is located in Paxton, MA.
The kennel manager’s primary responsibilities are to ensure the health and proper care of the program animals housed at the Lenfest Animal Health Center. The kennel manager will instruct and guide students on proper animal husbandry. Becker’s general education is built around the Agile Mindset, an important concept in today’s society where change is rapid and constant. We seek a kennel manager who embodies and can role model these qualities to the students: empathy, an innovative spirit, an entrepreneurial mindset and adaptive resilience.
With a faculty and staff of over 15, including veterinarians, certified veterinary technicians and professionals, we are seeking leadership, innovation and advancement in our growing program. This is a 10-month position.
Qualifications a minimum of 2 years of kennel work experience. CVT preferred. The kennel manager must be comfortable with the general care of dogs, cats, rabbits, rats and mice. Prior teaching experience and a background in canine behavior is a plus.
