Dermatology Veterinary Technician or Assistant

Tufts V.E.T.S., is an expanding multidisciplinary referral hospital located in the beautiful metropolitan area of Walpole, Massachusetts, owned by Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. We are seeking a full-time certified veterinary technician or veterinary technician assistant to join our Dermatology Service.

About the Position:

  • Familiar with dermatology terminology, medications, instruments, equipment, and procedures  

  • Assist dermatologist during procedures such as ear flushes, skin biopsies, cytology, cultures, and allergy testing

  • Aseptically prep patients for procedures

  • Setup and breakdown of dermatology scope

  • Setup and breakdown of procedure area

  • Maintain dermatology instruments and equipment

  • Assist dermatologist during appointments including taking patient history and TPR

  • Provide patient care to all dermatology patients

  • Assist with taking patient radiographs and blood work

  • Assist with setup of patient monitoring equipment and warming devices

  • Maintain dermatology inventory control

Shift: Fulltime (40 hour) benefit position within the surgery services including one major and one minor holiday coverage a year. Schedule TBD.

Personal Requirements:

  • Minimum of 18 years old

  • Minimum 2 years working as a veterinary technician and/or assistant 

  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in a specialty hospital

  • Graduate from an accredited AVMA program preferred

  • CVT/RVT/LVT preferred

  • Ability to multi-task  in a fast-paced working environment and is detail oriented

  • Has a high commitment to providing exceptional patient care

  • Excellent client and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment

  • Must be well-spoken, professional, approachable, and maintain a positive outlook
